Lenovo didn’t kill ThinkPad X series, X301 will have successor!

Recently, there were many rumors that Lenovo is ending their X laptop series, and that X301 will remain last one. Fortunately, this is not true if our insider is to be believed. New model is in development, and it will be known either X1 or X320. While 320 is somehow logical choice, we must admit that X1 sounds more appealing.

New model will bring some new futures to the table. Instead of using CULV processor like its predecessors, latest model will use standard notebook CPU – Core i5, second generation. This decision won’t have big negative impact on battery life as it should be around 5h with standard battery. On the other hand, it will definitely bring very big speed improvements, and will make that freshly added HDMI output very usable output option.
To become even tougher than before, 13 inch screen will be made in Gorilla glass, well known from some high end mobile phones like Samsung Galaxy S. Resolution is still to be confirmed, and although full HD was mentioned more than once, it is unlikely to be true for this small form factor.
And size wise, it will be even thinner than X301. On the back (where the battery is) it will remain around 1 inch (2,5 cm) think. In front, it will become even thinner, slicing it down to around 16 to 17 mm. There is more happy news for night writers, as new, chiclet type of keyboard will have backlight.
For full story and final spec we need to wait a bit, announcement being scheduled for 17th of May. No word on pricing, SSD etc… but as soon as we have more info, we will be happy to share with you.
